What can you expect from one to one coaching
What is Coaching?
Coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the ‘here and now’ rather than on the distant past or future.
The essence of coaching is:
- To help a person change in the way they wish and helping them go in the direction they want to go.
- Coaching supports a person at every level in becoming who they want to be.
- Coaching builds awareness, empowers choice and leads to change.
Unlike training or mentoring where the emphasis is on the trainer or mentor imparting their knowledge to you, coaching focuses on helping the coachee to take responsibility and ownership for identifying their own goals, assessing their own strengths and areas for development and identifying their own solutions for moving forwards.
This is achieved by the coach providing a safe, creative and non-judgemental space, asking questions and listening to help the coachee explore, reflect and make decisions.
Developmental coaching will normally be carried out over a series of sessions (6-10), with the coachee deciding on their own goals and development areas for the coaching. Session topics are agreed with the coach, with the coachee setting out the order of prioritiy.
Executive, Leadership and Career Coaching
I am an accredited Master Executive and Team Coach with the Association for Coaching. I work with individuals from emerging leaders to Board Directors to enable them to develop their authentic leadership style, overcome challenges and adapt their behaviour to be more effective in their roles. I work with clients as a facilitator, raising self-awareness through conversation, challenge and encouraging self-reflection.
How I work with you
When you enquire about coaching, the first step will for us to have a call (video or phone) to discuss your needs. This will be free of charge and is a “chemistry session” designed for us to find out more about each other, for me to explain what coaching is, my style and how I work, and for us to decide if we wish to work together.
All our conversations are confidential, and provide you with a safe space to reflect and explore your areas for development
- Agree the coaching package for you, a timeline for coaching and if the sessions are in person, virtually or walking sessions (I’m up for all weathers!)
- Agree your goals, priorities and what success looks like at the end of coaching
- Agree how we will work together to achieve your goals, and when we’ll review and feedback to each other.
Towards the end of the programme we will review overall progress, successes and any outstanding steps still to be taken.
I have a flexible coaching style and work with clients as a facilitator, raising self-awareness using conversation, supportive challenge and encouraging self reflection. I enable clients to work through any limiting beliefs and tailor coaching style and techniques to the client and situation. I am pragmatic and results orientated and help clients understand their strengths, impact on others, and how they can use this information to achieve successful outcomes.
I blend a systemic approach to my work with clean language, constellations and metaphor work, enabling clients to increase their emotional intelligence, influence and effectiveness. That may mean we simply talk, get creative with images or space, or use the outdoors as a landscape for reflection. Whatever works best for the client.
Fees and Coaching Packages
My coaching is based on longer, more in depth sessions every 4-6 weeks, with packages lasting 3,6 or 12 months. You can select from a variety of coaching packages, depending on your requirements. These sessions can be face to face, by phone or video call.
- 1 x 2 hour focussed session (ideal for a 1 off issue or as quarterly reflection)
- 2 x 2 hour sessions (over 3 months)
- 4 x 2 hour sessions (over 6 months)
- 6-8 x 2 hour sessions (over 12 months)
Team coaching packages and leadership development programmes are bespoke to the client, so please email for a further discussion.
I work with a team of talented associate coaches on team coaching or leadership development programmes, so can supply a number of coach profiles to allow prospective coachees to select the coach who is right for them. All coaches are fully qualified and members of the Association for Coaching or European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
